Cherry

The cherry tree today plays a major role in both surface extension and market interest. Over the next 5-10 years, it is therefore possible to predict that its value will increase. For several years, Netafim has applied its micro-irrigation techniques to cherry trees in Italy with very interesting results in terms of production, water and energy savings, management and yield splitting. The small radical structures, developed after down-sized rootstocks, benefit greatly from localized micro-irrigation and fertilization-irrigation, which has been supporting the cherry tree’s development since the earliest stages of planting. The cultivation, characterized by growingly intense plantings for the purpose of high density, if managed with micro irrigation and fertilization-irrigation, allows for correct expression of the varietal characters and paves the way for the cultivation of certain varieties, with very satisfactory results, even in the most unfitting areas.
